Resources

The Ben Gordon Prevention and Education Team depend upon a number of resources in order to comprehensively serve the community. Governmental agencies such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Services Agency (SAMHSA) and Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) provide grant funding that make the coalition work possible. Other governmental agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide the latest research in proven prevention strategies. Non-profit support organizations such as the Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Association (IADDA) and Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) provide support, training, and advocacy for building a drug free community. Locally, Ben Gordon Center Prevention and Education Program provides the day to day assistance for technical support, training, goal setting, development of change theories, coalition sustainability, and cultural competence by actively participating in all the Action Groups. Without all of these resources, and many more, the coalition would not have been as successful in the past and could not continue to be successful in the future.
